Celebrating International Women’s Day 2021

Cambridge Earth Sciences is proud to be celebrating International Women’s Day on 8 March 2021. International Women’s Day has occurred for well over a century with the first gathering held in 1911. In addition to celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, International Women’s Day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

“International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to amplify the voices of women working in diverse roles within the Department, whilst at the same time recognising the need to continue to strive to make the Department, and the geosciences in general, an equal and inclusive environment for all. The contributions in this article highlight just how important good mentorship and visibility are in creating role models to inspire future generations…”

Richard Harrison
Head of Department
